Drain and Refill
Drain and Refill
Draining and refilling your spa every 3 months is crucial for maintaining water quality and extending the life of your equipment. Over time, contaminants like oils, lotions and debris accumulate, making it harder for chemicals to work effectively. Draining the water also provides an opportunity to clean the filters and flush the jets. Additionally, a routine drain and refill helps prevent issues such as cloudy water, unpleasant odors and equipment damage, ultimately enhancing the overall spa experience.
- Circulate a jet cleaner per manufacturer's instructions to remove any gunk from the jets.
- Stop all jets, blowers and circulation features from the control panel. This prevents any electrical issues, ensuring safety while you drain and refill the spa. Follow manufacturer directions to turn equipment off.
- Drain the spa fully as per manufacturer's instructions.
- Thoroughly rinse the filter cartridges with a garden hose to remove loose debris and dirt. Hold the filter cartridge at an angle and spray water between the pleats. If needed, use a filter cleaner as directed on the product instructions or replace the filter. Once complete, reinstall the filter.
- Use a suitable spa cleaner to wipe down the interior of the shell. Pay attention to the waterline where scum may accumulate. Rinse thoroughly with clean water. Wipe down headrests, accessories and tub exterior.
- Fill the spa to the recommended water fill level as per manufacturer’s instructions.
- Once filled, turn the power back on and run the pump to circulate the water on your normal setting. Follow manufacturer directions for turning the spa on.
- Test water (all 6 parameters) and balance using the “Test” section of the app. You can enter once all levels are in the ideal range. Re-entry to a treated spa above 5 ppm free chlorine or 6 ppm Bromine is prohibited due to the risk of severe bodily injury.
Once the water chemistry is balanced, set your desired spa temperature, allow the water to heat up and enjoy!
